Monitors

Learn how to monitor critical infrastructure events.

Amply gives you the ability to create monitors that actively alert you of any events you would like to track.

Monitors alert you on specific events related to your sending infrastructure health. They allow you to define alert conditions for various events, like changes to customer IP reputation, bounce rates, and more. Amply events push data to your preferred destination, like via email, webhooks, or Slack.

Configure monitors and manage your alerts at a glance on the Monitors tab. You can create as many monitors as you'd like and update them at any time.

Create a New Monitor

To create a monitor in Amply:

  1. Navigate to the Monitors Tab > Click on the "+ Add New" button
  2. Select a monitoring type corresponding to the kind of telemetry you want to alert on.
  3. Choose the Detection Method you would like to use.
  4. Choose the Detection Type you would like to use.
  5. Set your Alert Conditions.

You can customize alerts based on the Type, Detection Method, Detection Type, and Alert Conditions.

There are 3 types of monitors you can be alerted on - Domain Reputation, IP Reputation, or Unsubscribes.

The Detection Method you choose - Change Alert, Threshold Alert, or Anomaly Detection - will define the alert threshold.

The last thing you need to do is set the Alert Conditions you would like to use. We provide you with default alert conditions here but you can customize the settings to suit your use case.

We go over these in more detail in the Monitor Types section.

Monitors ConfigurationDescription
NameThis is what you decide to name your Monitor. You should name it based on the type of event you're looking to get alerts on.
TypeThis is the category that you're looking to get alerts on. There are 3 types - Domain Reputation, IP Reputation, and Unsubscribes. We go over this in more detail in the next section.
Detection MethodThis is how you define the alert and warning thresholds and evaluation time frames you would like to use. There are 3 different Detection Methods - Change Alert, Threshold Alert, and Anomaly Detection. We go over this in more detail in the next section.
Detection TypeThis specifies the type of event you'll receive alerts on. Examples include blocklist events, bounce & spam rates, and unsubscribe rates. We go over this in more detail in the next section.
Alert ConditionsEnables you to set specific conditions you would like the monitor to meet for the alert to take action.

Manage Monitors

Amply keeps a list of all of the monitors you create within the Monitors Tab. You can search for monitors here, and update them at any time by clicking on them.

Monitor Types

There are 3 types of monitors you can receive alerts on - Domain Reputation, IP Reputation, and Unsubscribes.

Domain Reputation Monitor

This type of monitor is to ensure that your domain reputation is strong and in good standing. You can create alerts to notify you if your domain ends up on a blocklist for a certain period of time or if your bounce and spam rates reach a cautionable level.

Change Alert

Monitor if a domain has been added to a blocklist for a minimum time period.

We monitor the following blocklists:

NameURLNameserver
Abusixhttps://lookup.abusix.com/APIKEY.dblack.mail.abusix.zone
Spamhaushttps://www.spamhaus.org/dbl/apikey.dbl.dq.spamhaus.net

Threshold Alert

Monitor if your spam rate OR bounce rate (support two conditions) is over a defined threshold for a time period.

Anomaly Detection

Monitor if the spam rate OR bounce rate (support two conditions) is not within a percent threshold for a time period.

Forecast Alert {Coming Soon}

Use threshold or anomaly detection to predict trends (linear regression) for a period in the future.

IP Reputation Monitor

This type of monitor is to ensure that the reputation of your IP address (or addresses) is strong and in good standing. You can create alerts to notify you if your IP address (or addresses) ends up on a blocklist for a certain period of time or if your bounce and spam rates reach a cautionable level.

Change Alert

Monitor if an IP address has been added to a blocklist for a minimum time period.

We monitor the following blocklists:

Threshold Alert

Monitor if the spam rate OR bounce rate (support two conditions) is over a threshold for a time period.

Anomaly Detection

Monitor if the spam rate OR bounce rate (support two conditions) is not within a percent threshold for a time period.

Forecast Alert {Coming Soon}

Use threshold or anomaly detection to predict trends (linear regression) for a period in the future.

Unsubscribe Monitor

This type of monitor is to ensure that your unsubscribe rate remains low and healthy. You can create alerts to notify you if your users have been added to an unsubscribe list or if your unsubscribe rate reaches a cautionable level.

Change Alert

Monitor if a user has been added to a selected unsubscribe list for a minimum time period.

Threshold Alert

Monitor if your unsubscribe rate hits a certain threshold.

Anomaly Detection

Monitor if your unsubscribe rate deviates from the average by a certain percentage.

Forecast Alert {Coming Soon}

Use threshold or anomaly detection to predict trends (linear regression) for a period in the future.
